The minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and leaders of Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee paid an official visit to Vinh University and worked with its representatives on August 2nd, 2016.
Mr. Phung Xuan Nha appreciated achievements which Vinh University got within 57 years of foundation and development, especially in innovation time. On this visit, he said Vinh University is one of three best universities of Vietnam. He affirmed in his conclusion noted in the announcement No 659/TB-BGDĐT by the Ministry of Education and Training that he would support Vinh University in building itself a regional university with faculties – institutes – divisions.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh appreciated achievements which Vinh University has got and confirmed that Vinh University is a leading institution for post-secondary education in Nghe An Province as well as in Nothern Central Vietnam. In addition to its role to provide advanced education and training, Vinh University should focus on research on education science, social science and humanities, and natural science based on research-oriented university.
4. Building the project of comprehensive restructure of Vinh University
Based on national and regional policies on radical and comprehensive innovation of education and training, Vinh University has built the project of its comprehensive restructure with the goal to build Vinh University as a national key university and member of the AUN according to the Resolution of the 31st Institutional Party Congress.
5. Good achievements in personnel affairs.
Ten Vinh University’s lecturers were nominated professors and associate professors according to the Decision No 55/QĐ-HĐCDGSNN by the State Council for professor title of Vietnam. Among nominated lecturers, Dr. Tran Dinh Thang, Vice Dean of Chemistry Department, was recognized as the youngest professor of Vietnam in 2016.
In the same year, 29 lecturers successfully defended their doctoral dissertation. Dr. Tran Tu Khanh, Vice President, was nominated as the director of Planning and Finance Department of MOET.
6. Building and promulgation of the University administration policies.
Vinh University promulgated a number of regulations to reform the administrative procedures at the University. The regulations include the administration of qualifications; academic affairs; section operations; nomination of professors, associate professors, senior lecturers and high-ranking lecturers; personnel affairs; website running; joint training programmes; etc.
7. Collection of the feedbacks from students on Vinh University’s staff and activities
Vinh University has collected 27,740 feedbacks from students (91% of the total number of students) on the activities performed by different administrative divisions of the University in order to improve the quality of the management, operation and democratic regulation performance.
Vinh University was awarded the certificate of merits for brilliant achievements of student affairs management by the Ministry of Education and Training for the period from 2012-2016.
8. Innovations in student recruitment
Vinh University built up the project of full-time student recruitment upon groups of majors which is applied from the 57th course. This is a basis for the restructure of the University in the coming years.
Many other projects are also set up such as master students and part-time students recruitment applied from 2017, teacher standard upgrading training, high qualified human resource for all localities in Vietnam.
9. Building and developing curriculums based on CDIO standards
Vinh University promulgated the action plan No 10/KH-ĐHV dated March 8, 2016 and the Decision No 445/QĐ-ĐHV dated April 26, 2016 on building and developing curriculum based on CDIO standards. The University successfully carried out 41 research topics which aimed to build outcome standards for curriculum developed under CDIO standards. This curriculum is ready to be applied for the 57th course in the academic year 2017-2018.
10. Celebration of 50th anniversary of Gifted Student High School (1966 - 2016)
The High School for Gifted Students celebrated 50 years of foundation on October 16, 2016. Mr. Uong Chu Luu, Vice President of Vietnam National Assembly, and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nghia, Vice Minister of Education and Training participated in the celebration.
Founded in 1966, the School was established in Yen Da Village, Thach Binh Commune, Thach Thanh District, Thanh Hoa Province under the name of Mathematics Gifted Student Class. It currently has six specialized subjects: Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology. Over 50 years, 280 students got national gifted student title, 12 students got prizes from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and the Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO).
